Description: This major renovation provided badly needed support and meeting space for the Region II Education Service Center. Phased construction and careful attention to scheduling allowed the entire project to be accomplished without disruption to the ESC's on-going service mission to South Texas school districts and businesses.
The first phase converted the 3rd floor into meeting rooms, complete with full media/technology connectivity. Also included was a 3-story atrium/entry that provided key access between floors during construction. Upon completion of the first phase, alterations to the second floor were accomplished to provide needed departmental support spaces. Finally, the first floor was reconfigured and renovated to provide improved client service areas that were at once more efficient and accessible.
The building's infrastructure was extensively upgraded, including air conditioning, plumbing, electrical and networking systems. Amenities of the expanded facility include a 176-seat presentation theater, sixteen multi-purpose conference rooms with multi-media capability, and three computer labs. Demonstration and teaching centers have significantly expanded program areas. The new building features an expanded printing operation, better shipping and receiving facilities, and three high -speed elevators. Along with expanded training facilities for staff development, increased distance learning capabilities and a technical repair center were added to enhance the ESC's service capabilities. New restrooms, break areas, and school exhibit areas round out a facility that is both highly functional, user friendly, and comfortable.

Description:
This
facility serves the Departments of Business Administration and
Business Technology at Del Mar College with three floors of
classroom and computer laboratory space. The 100,000 square foot
building also provides 83 faculty offices, workrooms and lounges. A
Computer Aided Instruction (C.A.I.) lab is housed on the third
floor, overlooking the campus. All labs, offices, classrooms and
conference rooms are pre-wired for computer/data/communications
interface and computer instruction. The structure also services the
entire campus by housing Del Mar’s Department of Computer
Information Services and Central Data Processing Department. All
campus facilities are networked back to this building’s central
computer system. The building includes a 120 seat Lecture Hall,
completely equipment for multimedia presentations and computer
instruction.
The
project was designed for phased expansion utilizing materials and
architectural forms, which compliment the existing campus
architectural style.
